Roanoke Rapids (NC) Alumni Chapter History

The Roanoke Rapids Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Incorporated was chartered on February 12, 2005. Through the diligence of Bro. Elie Bracy III and Bro. Jimmie Harris, the chapter has be come a reality and a breath of fresh air in the Roanoke Valley.

The Seed of kappa Alpha Psi was long planted in the Roanoke Valley Before the Roanoke Rapids Alumni Chapter was conceived. Many of these men were contributing to their communities; however, they were not affiliated with an alumni chapter in the surrounding area but still displayed that "Ole Kappa Spirit". These two brothers felt it was necessary to bring the brothers together and start an alumni chapter in the area. Eighteen Brothers answered to the call and the Roanoke Rapids Alumni Chapter was born.

The first officers of the Roanoke Rapids Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc were, Bro. Elie Bracy III, Polemarch; Bro. Jimmie L. Harris, Vice-polemarch, Bro. Allen Sledge, Keeper of Records. Bro. Harvey Perry, Keeper of Excheauer, Bro Corey Odom, Strategus, Bro Jerry Simmons Lieutenant Strategus, Bro Gregory Cotton, Historian, Bro Len Manley, Parliamentarian, Bro Earnest Postell, II, Historian and Bro Ronald Owens, Chaplain.

The Roanoke Rapids Alumni Chapter had quickly become the talk of the Middle Eastern Province. Nicknamed the "Educational Chapter" by Province Polemarch Sheldon McAlphin because many of the charter members are educators. The chapter, since its inception has up held the objectives of Kappa Alpha Psi. "Achievement" being our purpose, the Roanoke Rapids Alumni Chapter since its birth has been involved in several Guide Right activities with the youth of the Roanoke Valley, held seminars and round-table discussions with civil organizations on health care, and discussions on money management and parenting.
